August 12 2009

Leading managed services provider, adept4, has announced the completion of a £1 million IT transition and transformation project for Myriad Group which saw over 400 servers and 900 people across 11 different countries migrate to a new unified IT infrastructure in under 12 months.

Leading managed services provider, adept4, has announced the completion of a £1 million IT transition and transformation project for Myriad Group which saw over 400 servers and 900 people across 11 different countries migrate to a new unified IT infrastructure in under 12 months.

The new infrastructure had to be implemented following Myriad's acquisition of a number of other mobile software developers including Purple Labs over the past year.

As part of the project adept4 designed the new systems architecture that would be used across the group in 11 different countries including France, Switzerland, UK and the Far East.

Commenting on the project, Kate Hamilton, marketing director at Myriad said; "As a global leader in software for mass-market mobile phones Myriad has made a series of acquisitions recently that has created Europe's largest mobile phone software developer. This expansion has created a number of challenges; global locations, multiple stand-alone systems and a substantial increase in users."

"Adept4 was commissioned to develop the architecture and manage the transition and Transformation leading to a steady state business capable of scaling to a single unified structure. Their fully ITIL qualified team operated in a series of locations throughout the world to deliver the project on time and on budget and their commercial understanding allowed them to develop an architecture that can support Myriad now and into the future. "

adept4 integrated a number of technology requirements during the project including email and firewall management, data storage and backup as well as application hosting and remote access for offshore developers.

Peter Birkett, chief executive officer at adept4 said; "Myriad is very much a leader in their field so developing the new IT architecture was critical for business development. The acquisitions had created a number of challenges because they had a number of different systems running across the business and by implementing the project they could save a great deal of time and resources."

"They selected adept4 because of our proven track record in service delivery using best of breed technologies and because we had the skills and ability to implement the project in as short a time as possible with the minimum amount of disruption to their business."
